The IELTS
partners (British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the Cambridge Assessment
English) offer a lot of scholarships grants and awards for research in
linguistics and language education. Listed below are the four primary grants
and awards of the IELTS partners:
IELTS Joint-funded Research Program
The IELTS
research program has delivered financial support for more than 90 external
studies carried out by over 130 researchers around the globe. This
joint-research program aims to ensure that the test remains contemporary,
significant, and useful for institutions that use IELTS Academic, IELTS General
Training or IELTS UKVI test results. It also
guarantees that IELTS contributes to the growing understanding of the nature of
language proficiency and its place within linguistic and language studies.
Each year,
researchers and institutions with relevant experience are invited to present
their IELTS-related research projects. Financial support for individual
projects selected is limited to £45,000/AU$70,000.
Caroline Clapham IELTS Masters Award
The IELTS
Masters Award is established by the IELTS partners to encourage IELTS review institutions, teachers and students
pursue their research careers in creating language testing dissertation. In
2010, the award was renamed as the Caroline Clapham IELTS Masters Award, named
after a foremost contributor in to the IELTS and a member of the IELTS
committee.
The IELTS
Research Committee reviews submissions for the IELTS Masters Award and
shortlists potential winners. Submissions are reviewed and marked according to
a set of timetable and established criteria.
IELTS Morgan Terry Memorial IATEFL Scholarship Award
The IATEFL
Scholarship Award aims to celebrate the innovative practice in the teaching of
IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training and IELTS UKVI.
Teachers from all over the world are encouraged to submit applications and show
others their creative, unique, and innovative teaching ideas.
This award is
funded by the IELTS partners in memory of Morgan Terry, a dear colleague who
made remarkable contributions to the work of IELTS until her death in 2011.
Entries will be evaluated in terms of their uniqueness, potential impact upon
learning and accessibility.
